Controversial Facts About Cleopatra

Cleopatra may have been a successful woman, but you should not do things the same way. What were her achievements?

How she looked

Historians are unsure of the true appearance of Cleopatra. Her appearance is usually characterized by fair skin, dark hair and dark eyes. She is sometimes shown with blonde hair, but this is rare. She is often shown on coins with a snagged nose.

Cleopatra VII Philopator is her full name. She was born to Cleopatra V Tryphaena, a daughter of Ptolemy XII Auletes and Cleopatra VII Tryphaena. She was conceived in 69 B.C.E. in Alexandria, Egypt. Cleopatra is unknown to be of Greek descent. Some claim that she was African-American, while others believe that she was Greek-American.

Relatives

Cleopatra might be thought to have a strange family. It wasn’t back then. Cleopatra’s family preferred to have their children married in order to preserve their lineage. Cleopatra is believed to have been the child of two siblings. Her father’s initials are Ptolemy XII Auletes. Cleopatra’s mother’s initials are Cleopatra XII Egypt. She had four brothers and sisters. They are Ptolemy XIII, Arsinoe IV, Ptolemy XIV of Egypt, Berenice IV And Egypt. She was married to four men, Ptolemy XIII, Ptolemy XIV and Mark Antony. She had four children, Caesarion, Cleopatra Selene, Alexander Helios, Ptolemy Philadelphus.

Later in life

Cleopatra became the youngest heir to the throne after her father’s death at 18 years. She was married to both her brothers. She fled Syria with Ptolemy, XIII Theos Philopator after she was killed by her brother. She joined the army of Syria and fought to take the throne. Julius Caesar was her lover and she had a baby with him. Julius died shortly after. She returned to Rome, dressed as a goddess. Anthony, the Emperor, was involved and she had three children. Octovian, however, wanted Anthony to be the ruler. Octovian began lying about Cleopatra. And people began to rebel against her. Octovian finally declared war on Egypt. Cleopatra escaped after he captured her. Anthony believed that she was dead and he shot himself. Fearing she would be returned as a prisoner to Rome, she committed suicide. In order to secure Caesarion’s throne and herself, she murdered one of her siblings and one of her other brothers. Cleopatra’s older sibling was executed for murdering her mother, as she tried to take the throne. After returning from Rome, her younger brother mysteriously passed away. Cleopatra and Julius Caesar drowned Cleopatra’s older sister in the Nile. Cleopatra’s younger sibling was executed by Mark Anthony following Cleopatra’s instructions.

Octovian wanted Mark Anthony to take revenge for the death of his great uncle, Julius Caesar. Octovian enjoyed Mark Anthony’s affection for Cleopatra. Therefore, he declared in his will that if Octovian died, his wealth and powers would go directly to the children and body of Cleopatra. Rome declared war on Egypt and Anthony upon hearing this. Octavian won and was granted all the power he needed. Rome was also granted Egypt.

Passing away

Cleopatra’s death is not known. The majority of people agree that Cleopatra was poisoned by an asp and died. Some believe that she hidden poison in the hollow comb her hair was wearing.

Cleopatra is my advice. Be bold and intelligent. Why? Cleopatra managed to convince two Roman leaders, and Egypt was hers for many years. She was able take the throne by herself.
